Vetiver is a thick, sticky oil distilled from a grass which flourishes in tropical climates. Vetiver is gaining popularity for its use as an erosion control plant. Its roots can grow over six feet long and spread quickly, stabilizing marshy ground. Some of the chemicals found in essential oil of vetiver are zizanol, epizizanol, and fufurol.

 

Well-known for its insect repellent and cooling properties, vetiver is often used to reduce fevers and relieve hot flashes. It can be used in a massage oil for circulation, arthritis, gout, and rheumatism. Vetiver strengthens connective tissue and helps with cramps, sprains, and strains. It can relieve toothaches and its antioxidant ability is beneficial for the entire body.
